Ms. Spoljaric is the Croatian-Swiss, first female President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the independent, neutral guardian of the Geneva Conventions. She and her organisation played a key role in bringing back the hostages from Gaza.
She is one of few people who regularly travels on both sides of armed conflict - bravely going to understand first-hand the consequences of being subjected to the levels of violence that countries and civilians endure.
She rarely does interviews due to the volatile and confidential nature of the conflicts she engages in.
This interview reveals a woman with heart and spirit; sensitivity and strength; hope married with robust clarity and realism; meaningful action based in higher purposes and lived values. She inspires hope and a stand with her call for peace:
“We have to come back to recognizing that humanity is what holds us together and is something we need to protect as a priority today, because we are debasing almost everything.”
